Yet, if you travel to regions like Brazil or India—where WhatsApp is equally ubiquitous—the contrast in its use as a business platform couldn’t be more stark. In South Africa, however, the most well-known use case is receiving an airline boarding pass. Adam and Matt met at Yoco, the South African payments fintech. As Chief of Staff and VP of Marketing, they had a front-row seat to the Yoco journey, gaining invaluable experience in scaling a business. Adam, a serial entrepreneur, has launched four different ventures, while Matt, with 20 years of experience, has built brands across corporate, startup, and personal projects.

Their interest in WhatsApp began with their own e-commerce businesses, where they noticed an outdated reliance on email for customer communications at every stage of the journey. Recognising WhatsApp’s potential from international markets, they decided to bet on it as the next big thing. Bluetick launched as an agency, offering turnkey WhatsApp solutions across diverse sectors and use cases.
